Persian Hunters is based on a jaquard velvet weave dating to the early 19th century that would have been inspired by designs from a much earlier era. The original fabric was designed for an outer garment which being woven in silk with silver thread would have been worn by the extremely wealthy. The new design is embroidered on a textured ground to imitate the worn and faded feel of the original fabric.
