Long Gallery is taken from a wallpaper design which was in Zoffanys very first collection Temple Newsam. The original design from 1735-50 had a repeat of 18 feet and would have been manufactured as a special commission and at a great cost. The pattern was executed in dark red flock on a paper stained in deep fuchsia that once hung in the long gallery at Temple Newsam a stately home in Leeds Yorkshire.
